F/A-18E4 Super Hornet (BuNo. 165538) was the fourth of the test and evaluation Super Hornets. It was used for Spin and Weapons Separation tests in the mid-1990s and is now with Replacement Squadron VFA-122. The F/A-18E flew for the first time on November 29th 1995 at St. Louis Lambert International Airport with Boeing's Chief Test Pilot, Fred Madenwald, at the controls.

VFA-122 Flying Eagles are stationed at NAS Lemoore on the West Coast of the United States. This particular F/A-18E Super Hornet (BuNo. 165538 NJ 101) was flown by Captain Greg ‘Hyfi’ Harris, the squadron CO. The Flying Eagles train Navy F/A-18E/F Replacement Pilots and Weapon System Officers (WSOs). The squadron has over sixty F/A-18E/F Super Hornets on strength.
